The Rio Hotel & Casino Las Vegas announced Monday that Patrick Miller has been appointed president and CEO to replace Trevor Scherrer, who resigned last month for health reasons.
Miller’s career spans 28 years in the gaming and hospitality industry and in its announcement, the Rio said he has “a proven track record of success leading some of Las Vegas’s most popular Strip resorts.”
Miller has held key positions within MGM Resorts International, including senior vice president overseeing the hospitality divisions at MGM Grand, New York-New York, Excalibur, Signature, and the Shadow Creek Golf Course. His most notable role was as the president and COO at Park MGM and NoMad Hotel, where he spearheaded the transformative half-billion-dollar renovation of Monte Carlo to Park MGM.
“Patrick’s extensive experience in the Las Vegas hospitality industry, including his many leadership roles at MGM Resorts, stands as a testament to his expertise,” said Eric Birnbaum, chairman of Dreamscape, owner of the Rio. “Having overseen the transition of Monte Carlo to Park MGM, Patrick is the perfect person to lead the total revitalization of the Rio into the next chapter of this property’s history.”
As the newly appointed president, Miller is set to play a pivotal role in its transformation. The property is currently in the midst of a multi-phase $340 million renovation to revitalize the aging resort.
Miller is a Las Vegas native and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He serves on several philanthropic and business boards in Las Vegas.
